Arbor House Home Away From Home

SEE PHOTOGRAPHS

This is an unusually lovely, spacious, comfortable and fully furnished 1st floor apartment in a traditional 1850’s Maine home – truly a “home away from home” for travelers from away.   Beautifully restored by master carpenter and wooden boat builder Gary Wheeler, it features original artwork, cherry wood floors, artistically crafted cabinets and shelving (with rounded edges as befits a sailboat), and well-stocked bookshelves throughout.

Located in Rockland’s quiet South-end neighborhood next to the harbor, Arbor House sits a half block from the Harbor boardwalk and beach.  It is within easy walking distance to Rockland’s acclaimed Main Street with its excellent restaurants, unique shops. museums, galleries, cafes, and the award winning Strand Theatre’s live, HD, and film performances.  Supermarkets, local and specialty food stores and fresh roasted coffee are all close by.

This apartment is 800 square feet large and includes a private bedroom, living and dining rooms, an eat in kitchen and a full bath.  It is perfect for one person or a couple, and can accommodate additional guests with plenty of floor space for our two twin size airbeds.

The spacious open dining and living room area is tastefully furnished with antique and modern furniture, beautiful oriental and hand stitched rugs, original art and shelves full of intriguing books. The dining room table seats 6 to 8 people and is perfect for dinner with visiting friends and family or for working on a project or using your laptop..  The living room features an 8 foot sofa comfortable enough to fall asleep on, several chairs and 24″ smart TV with Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Roku. Free Wi-Fi is provided and a window air conditioner is available for those rare super-hot days.

The bedroom offers a very comfortable king size bed, lamps for bedtime reading, a ceiling fan, a desk, and storage for clothes and other items.

The eat in kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, gas range, refrigerator with ice maker and water dispenser, garbage disposal, cooking and eating utensils, spices, Maine cookbooks and all you need to prepare any meal including lobster and fresh caught fish from Jess’s Fish Market.  Table linens, dishtowels and all dishwashing supplies are supplied.

The bathroom with tub and shower is located off the kitchen. We provide LL Bean cushy towels and Trillium’s wonderful handmade soaps.  There is storage for personal items.  Extra towels and supplies are stored in the built-in cabinets.

A deck with barbeque grill is off the kitchen overlooking the owner’s perennial gardens.  Guests can relax in Adirondack chairs on deck and lawn to enjoy ocean breezes and the scent of flowers in bloom.  Parking is in the driveway and entrance to the apartment is on the deck.
